Travelling to the airport : leave plenty of time to get
to the airport and check-in

Departure Times : Telephone ahead to confirm
departure times. This will save hanging around in case of delays |

Delays : Plan for delays. Make sure you have
plenty to keep yourself occupied in case of delays eg books, magazines,
cards, portable computer games etc |

Comfortable Shoes & Clothing : Take comfortable
clothing to wear during the flight and shoes which will still be
comfortable if your feet swell |

Ear Plugs : these are useful whether you are
planning to sleep or not, as some small aircraft can be very noisy
indeed. |

Contact Lense case & solution : lenses
dry out quickly at altitude so wear glasses where possible to avoid
eyes becoming tired and sore |

Stretch Regularly : get up and stretch to avoid
stiffness and swelling of legs and feet |

EATING AND DRINKING |
| 1. |
No alcohol : alcohol increases dehydration
and should not be drunk at the airport or during the flight |
| 2. |
Avoid tea, coffee & cola : these contain
caffeine which is a diuretic therefore has a dehydrating effect |
| 3. |
Drink plenty of water : take at least one litre
of fluid for drinking during flight. Ask cabin staff for extra drinks |
| 4. |
Eat regularly & sensibly : supplement
your cabin meals with healthy snacks you bring yourself |
| 5. |
Carry all essential medication in your hand

Spare glasses/contact lenses : if you need
them to compete in |
