Travelling
with Equipment
| 1. |
BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE : make sure you have sufficient baggage
allowance on all the aeroplanes you are travelling on to cover
your equipment.
|
| 2. |
PACK CAREFULLY : pack equipment so it cannot
be damaged - baggage handlers may throw baggage around irrespective
of any fragile labels!! |
| 3. |
LOCK BAGGAGE : get a good luggage lock to prevent
items being stolen from your bags whilst they are in transit |
| 4. |
CONNECTION TIMES : allow plenty of time to
make connections to give your luggage enough time to make it too! |
| 5. |
AMSTERDAM : if you are connecting via Amsterdam
(or have an unavoidably short connection time) and are competing
the next day, think about putting your as much of your equipment
as possible into your hand luggage. eg shoes, jacket, breeches,
glove. It is easy enough to borrow the odd weapon, body wire etc
but fencing shoes, jacket, breeches can be more difficult. |
